hoprat compares holiday parks and sells no holidays. This page says how the site makes money, what decides the order of the results, who writes what you read, and how partner links are flagged. It is written to be checked, not to reassure.
How hoprat makes money
The site is free, with no compulsory account and no subscription. Two sources of revenue are planned to fund it, and only two — to date, neither of them brings in anything:
- Affiliate commissions. when you click a button leading to an operator's website and book there, hoprat may earn a commission. It is paid by the operator, never by you, and it does not change the price you pay: you book at the operator's public rate, exactly as if you had gone to them directly.
- Advertising. the site displays Google AdSense advertisements. Any advertisement actually served carries the word « Advertisement » just above it. As long as Google returns no advertisement — which is the case today, the account is not yet approved — the label is not shown, and the slot collapses as soon as Google reports it has nothing to serve. Advertisements are kept separate from the content: they come after the full list of results, never between two results, and the advertiser chooses neither the parks displayed, nor their order, nor the text around them.
What this money does not buy
- Commission never enters the calculation of the score, nor the order the results are displayed in.
- Advertising influences neither the ranking, nor the choice of subjects, nor the content of the articles.
- No operator can buy a better position, at any price.
- A commission would not change the price paid by the visitor: it would be taken out of the operator's margin.
hoprat is currently a member of no affiliate network: the applications are in progress. Outbound links are prepared for affiliation — technical attributes and disclosure already in place, described below — so that nothing changes for you the day a programme is accepted.
Google third parties and your consent
What is loaded, and under what conditions: Google's advertising script (AdSense) is loaded on every page as soon as you arrive, and no longer after a click on a banner. It is restricted by Google's Consent Mode v2: in the 27 countries of the European Union, as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the default settings deny advertising storage and analytics storage until you have given your consent. Consent is collected through Google's privacy message, a TCF v2.2 certified consent management platform; it has not been published yet as of today. Google Analytics 4 has been in place since 15 September 2026: its tag is present on every page, subject to exactly the same consent as the advertising script. Our own audience measurement and the counting of outbound clicks, for their part, work without cookies, without any visitor identifier and without retaining IP addresses. The details of what is processed are set out in the privacy policy.
Ranking policy
What decides the order the parks are presented to you in:
- The Hoprat score — a mark out of 100 recalculated for your search, from the park's characteristics and what surrounds it.
- The travel profile you choose — family, couple, seniors, friends: it changes the weight of the dimensions, and so the order. Two different visitors see two different rankings of the same parks.
- Your filters — departure city, acceptable driving time, budget, facilities, dates. They remove parks from the list and change the distances, and so the calculation.
- The sorting you ask for — you can force sorting by price, by driving time or by public rating at any moment; the score then takes a back seat.
What decides nothing: neither commission, nor advertising, nor any commercial relationship. No operator can buy a better position, at any price; none can pay to enter the database, to leave it, or to have an unflattering mention removed. The code that calculates the score simply does not know about payment: it is not an input.
The full workings, dimension by dimension, are published on the Methodology page. Every park page also shows the workings of its own mark, with the sentence explaining each dimension.
Editorial policy
Who writes
The park pages, the guides and the articles are written by Rachid Ahannach, the site's editor, under the name Yourachme. There is no outside editorial team and no content supplied by an operator. The author's background is set out on the About page.
How a park enters the database
On a single criterion: a park is added because it fits the site's scope — holiday parks in the Benelux and the surrounding area, reachable within a few hours' drive — and because its public information is enough to document it. No paid application, no quid pro quo: neither being added nor staying in the database can be bought.
The park pages are compiled by hand from the operators' public websites and regional tourist information, then proofread. Driving times, maps and weather come from open sources, cited on the “About” page.
Our iron rule on data
Nothing is shown that is not in the data: no price, no rating and no facility is shown if it is not in the data. An empty box stays empty rather than being filled in with an estimate in disguise. A public rating is never shown without the platform it came from and the date it was recorded; an amount that is not a rate recorded at the operator is presented as a hoprat estimate, with everything that implies.
How an error gets corrected
An error can be reported through the Contact page. We check the information at source, correct the data, and the correction goes live at the next update. The information that counts remains the one shown on the operator's website at the time of booking.
What we do not do
Never: no sponsored article without it being stated in the article itself; no invented rating and none rounded up; no price shown without a source; no official operator photo used without their permission; no review written by us and presented as a visitor's.
Affiliate disclosure
Where they are: the “See at the operator” buttons on park pages, results lists, comparisons, collections and articles. They are the only links on the site that can earn anything. Links to tourist offices, maps, data sources and other hoprat pages are not partner links.
How they are flagged to search engines: every outbound link to an operator carries the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attribute. sponsored tells search engines that the link is commercial, nofollow that it passes on no ranking credit, and noopener stops the target page from manipulating ours when it opens in a new tab.
How they are flagged to the visitor: hovering over an outbound link shows a tooltip, in the language of the page and naming the chain: « You are leaving hoprat for Center Parcs's booking page. This link earns us nothing: we belong to no affiliate network. » Below result lists and next to booking buttons, the same thing is written in plain sight, with a link to the details.
What is passed on: outbound links carry parameters identifying hoprat as the origin of the click, so the operator knows where the visit came from. They contain no personal data. The click is logged on our side to measure audience; what is processed and kept is set out in the privacy policy.
hoprat takes no bookings and collects no payment from visitors. The booking, the payment, the cancellation conditions and after-sales service are entirely the responsibility of the operator you book with.
