How the draw works

Four answers are enough: where you set off from, the drive you accept, how many of you there are, and a total budget — or none. Hoprat then ranks the 33 parks as it does everywhere else on the site, keeps the top five, and draws one at random.

Chance therefore only applies to those five. This is not a roulette across every park: one that is four hours away, or over budget, cannot come out. Pressing the button again draws another of the five.

The park drawn comes with its driving time, the same drive on a Friday evening, the estimated budget for the stay, an activity nearby and the weather for the coming days. From there, « discover my weekend » carries the same answers into the planner to produce a full programme.

The limits of the draw

As everywhere on the site, no availability is checked: the park drawn can be fully booked. And the budget is a hoprat estimate, not a rate — the method is set out on the methodology page.

The weather comes from Open-Meteo, an open forecasting service queried for the park's coordinates. It only covers the coming days: beyond that, nothing is shown rather than announcing a forecast that does not exist.

Lastly, a draw is not advice. If you already know what you are after, the five-step assistant will do better: it asks the questions the draw does not.

Who the draw is for

For those who cannot make up their minds, not for those looking for the best park. It is there to break a deadlock by accepting that the answer is imposed, which is exactly what the five questions of the assistant avoid doing.
