How the assistant chooses
Five questions, in this order: the setting you are after, who you are travelling with, where you set off from and how long a drive you accept, then your dates, how many of you there are and your budget, and finally your must-haves. None of them is compulsory — leaving a step empty widens the search instead of stopping it.
Your answers do not filter the parks, they reorder them. Travelling with children pushes up the indoor pool and the kids' club; travelling as a couple pushes up quiet and the restaurants around. Only the must-haves in the last step actually rule parks out, and that is why they sit apart from the rest. The full calculation is public on the methodology page.
The ranking opens at an address that carries your answers. You can therefore send the link on: the other person sees exactly the same result without redoing the five steps, and you can come back to it in a month.
What the assistant does not know
It sees no availability at all. No operator calendar is queried: a park can come out first and be fully booked on your dates. The operator button at the foot of every park page is the only place where that answer is reliable.
Nor does it know the price you will pay. The amounts are hoprat estimates, worked out the same way for all 33 parks so that they stay comparable with one another; they are not rates, and they do not move with your dates. What the site knows and does not know is set out on the transparency page.
Lastly, it only ranks the parks in our database. A park that is missing has not been rejected: it has not been surveyed yet. And a park with no public rating shows « rating not confirmed » rather than a figure that could not be traced back to any review.
When this is the right tool
The assistant is built for someone who has criteria but no park in mind. If you already know where to go, the all parks page shows them at a glance with their driving times; if you are torn between two, the comparison tool puts them side by side, row by row.
If on the other hand you have no criteria at all, the random draw is quicker: four answers instead of five questions. And once the park is settled, the weekend planner writes the day-by-day programme.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I have to answer all five questions?
- No. Every step can be left empty, and the assistant then widens the search instead of blocking it. Only the must-haves in the last step actually rule parks out; everything else adjusts a ranking.
- Does the assistant book the stay?
- No, and it sees no availability. It ranks parks from public data and from our own estimates. Booking happens at the operator, through the link on the park page.
- Where do the driving times come from?
- From a real road routing calculation, redone for each of the 19 departure cities, and not from a straight-line distance. These are times in normal conditions; ticking « I leave on Friday evening » applies a 30 % traffic uplift.
- Is the assistant paid for?
- No, and it asks for no account. Your answers travel inside the page address: that is what makes the result shareable, and what lets you reopen it later.
