What the planner produces
You give the departure city, the drive you accept, who you are travelling with, your dates and the number of nights, how many adults and children, a maximum budget and your wishes. In return, the planner picks a park and shows the driving time, the full estimated budget and a day-by-day programme.
The programme is not a fixed text: each day is rebuilt from the activities recorded at the park and around it, and the buttons above change its tone. If the park on offer does not appeal, « change park » moves to the next one in the ranking without making you type anything again.
The result prints and travels: the copy button hands you a link that carries all your answers, the chosen park included. It is the same mechanism as the five-step assistant.
What the planner does not do
It books nothing and checks no availability. The park it offers can be fully booked on your dates: only the operator's own page will say so, and the link to it is on the park page.
The budget shown is a hoprat estimate — accommodation, driving, food, activities — worked out the same way for every park. It is there to compare, not to pay. The detail of the calculation is on the methodology page.
Lastly, the planner does not know the season: it offers the same programme in February as in July. When the time of year changes everything, the seasonal comparisons on the blog take over.
When this is the right tool
The planner is built for the step after the park is chosen: it assumes you want to go, and works out what to do with the days. For choosing the park itself, the five-step assistant asks more questions and returns a ranking rather than a single answer.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the programme take the weather into account?
- No. The programme is built from the activities recorded at the park and around it, with no forecast. The « I don't know where to go » page does show the coming weekend's weather for the park it draws.
- Can I find my weekend again later?
- Yes, by keeping the link. All your answers and the chosen park fit inside the page address: the copy button puts it on the clipboard, and opening it later gives back the same weekend.
- Why is the Friday evening drive longer?
- Because it carries a 30 % uplift on the same drive in normal conditions. Setting off at the end of the week on Belgian and Dutch roads does not take the same time as a Tuesday at 2pm, and ignoring that would understate the most common journey of all.
- How much does the planner cost?
- Nothing, and it asks for no account. hoprat earns no commission on bookings today: what the site makes and does not make is set out on the transparency page.
