Het Vennenbos is the best-documented park in this selection: 8.3 out of 10 on Zoover from 2,289 reviews, which gives the rating a weight the others do not have. The site spreads through a pine forest at Hapert, in Dutch Brabant, an hour and a half from Brussels. It combines a subtropical pool with slides and a wave pool, an outdoor pool for the summer, an indoor play area, a children's club, a bowling alley, a mini-market, bikes for hire and bungalows that accept dogs.

The location counts as much as the park. Efteling is forty-eight minutes away and runs all year, winter included; allow 40 € off season and up to 56 € at peak times, which changes the budget of a weekend for four. Safaripark Beekse Bergen, thirty-five minutes away, can be crossed by car, by boat or on foot. Toverland is fifty-three minutes away and has covered areas. For adults, Eindhoven is half an hour away for the Strijp-S district and the Philips museum, the Trappist abbey of La Trappe thirty-three minutes, and Van Gogh's village at Nuenen thirty-eight.

The drawback follows from the success: it is a large family park, full of children from four to twelve, and therefore noisy during the Dutch and Belgian school holidays, which do not fall on the same dates. There is neither a wellness area nor a sauna in the accommodation, which rules out a weekend as a couple. For quiet walking, the waymarked loops of Landgoed De Utrecht, twenty-one minutes away, offer five to fifteen kilometres across the heathland.
