Renovated family park beside the Campine lakes, with Aquafun pool, sandy beach and forest. The most affordable of the large Belgian parks, one hour from Brussels and 45 minutes from Antwerp.
What the listings don't tell you
Your stay at the park
Sunparks, not Center Parcs: that is the first thing to know. The brand plays the contained-price card, and the two ranges on offer say as much, Select Holiday Cottage and Exclusive Holiday Cottage, with no VIP tier above them. The rating reflects that positioning: 7.1 out of 10 on Booking.com from 278 reviews, the lowest of the Belgian parks we follow. Expect decent facilities rather than top-of-the-range ones.
The park borders the Mol lakes, in the Campine. On site, the Aquafun indoor pool is the only water facility listed: no spa, no outdoor pool, no private sauna in our data. The interest of the place lies mainly in what surrounds it, and everything is close by. The Jakob Smits museum is 13 minutes away, the Zilvermeer 15, for open-air swimming from May to September, Postel Abbey 17. Bobbejaanland drops to 34 minutes, against 55 from Lommel, which changes the day: you can come back for lunch. Kayaking on the Kleine Nete runs from April to October, half an hour away. Hidrodoe, a centre devoted to water, closes the list at 39 minutes.
Give it a miss if you want adult wellness or a large water park: that is not what this park offers. It holds its place for a family watching its budget, coming from Antwerp (59 minutes) or Brussels (1h 30m), and planning to go out each day rather than stay shut in. In winter, the Zilvermeer and the kayaking drop off the programme, and what is left is Aquafun, the abbey and the museums.
