What to do at a holiday park when it rains in November

What is under cover on site

Of the 33 parks in the database, 31 confirm an indoor pool. The two exceptions matter a great deal in November: Villages Nature Paris, whose pool our data does not confirm as indoor, and Chalet Le Haut Lieu in Malmedy is a chalet for eight with a private sauna and hot tub, with no shared facilities of any kind.

Sandaya Parc La Clusure raises a blunter problem: it opens from April to early November only. A mid-November weekend there is beside the point, rain or no rain.

Beyond the pool, three facilities change a day stuck indoors. Bowling, confirmed at 22 parks in the database, five of them within two hours of Brussels: Center Parcs Erperheide (1h 24m), Center Parcs De Kempervennen (1h 31m), Landal Het Vennenbos and Center Parcs De Vossemeren (1h 36m) and Landal Hoog Vaals (1h 47m). The indoor playground, which keeps three- to ten-year-olds busy while the adults read. And the on-site shop, which saves you getting back in the car for milk.

Indoor outings within 40 minutes

A wet weekend is played out as much outside the park as inside it. Around each park we counted the recorded indoor outings (museums, indoor theme parks, thermal baths, outlets, water centres) within 40 minutes' drive, setting aside those that close before November.

Center Parcs Erperheide comes top with five, and it is the Belgian park closest to Brussels to line up that many: Plopsa Indoor Hasselt 35 minutes away, C-mine in Genk at 25, the Jenevermuseum in Hasselt at 36, Maasmechelen Village at 38, and its own Aqua Mundo with Baluba on site. In December, add the Christmas market and Winterland in Hasselt, 37 minutes away.

Landal Hoog Vaals records only one on that count, the Carolus Thermen 17 minutes away, but it sits 18 minutes from Aachen and 33 from Maastricht. Two cities inside half an hour, which settles two afternoons. The park also confirms an indoor pool, bowling, an indoor playground and 355 units.

Landal Mooi Zutendaal is the interesting case: besides its indoor pool and indoor playground on site, it has the Saint-Pietersberg caves 23 minutes away, entirely underground, Maasmechelen Village at 23 and Maastricht at 30. The wet-weather plan works on site and in the car.

The parks that lose the most in the rain

EuroParcs Zilverstrand (Mol) owes its reputation to a lake with a sandy beach and an outdoor pool. Both are out of service in November, and the neighbouring Zilvermeer closes at the end of September. The park does confirm an indoor pool, an indoor playground and a spa; outside, that leaves Hidrodoe 33 minutes away and the Jakob Smits museum at 6. The park shows 7.9/10 on Booking.com on 9 September 2026, a score earned in summer.

Sunparks Kempense Meren, also in Mol, keeps its Aquafun indoor pool and loses the same open-air outings. Booking.com score 7.1/10 on 9 September 2026.

Center Parcs De Vossemeren deserves a qualification. Its public score, 8.6/10 on Booking.com on 9 September 2026, is the highest in the database, and it confirms an indoor pool and a spa. But neither a kids' club nor an indoor playground is confirmed in our data, and it has only two recorded indoor outings within 40 minutes. With 660 units, the Aqua Mundo carries Saturday afternoon on its own.

A rainy day that holds together

1. Ask on arrival whether the pool runs on bookable time slots: our pages do not record those rules, and they differ from one operator to the next.
2. Keep one indoor outing in reserve for Saturday afternoon, the point at which the rain wears everyone down. Museum, thermal baths, indoor park: the 40-minute radius almost always covers it.
3. Check the on-site shop before you leave. Confirmed at 28 parks out of 33, it saves two trips out in the downpour.
4. Plan an evening that does not depend on the weather: bowling at Het Vennenbos, De Kempervennen or Hoog Vaals, half board at Vayamundo Houffalize, a private sauna in the cottages that advertise one.
5. Compare two parks side by side on their indoor facilities rather than on their overall score. An August score tells you nothing about a Sunday in November.
