Center Parcs' “water” park in the Netherlands: marina, windsurfing, cottages on the water and Aqua Mundo. 25 minutes from Walibi Holland and 45 minutes from Amsterdam. Flat terrain, perfect for cycling with children.
What the listings don't tell you
Your stay at the park
De Eemhof is the Center Parcs water park in the Netherlands, built on the shore of the Eemmeer, in Flevoland. Its distinctive feature is the accommodation: classic cottages, but also waterside lodgings and woonboten, the houseboats moored on the lake. A marina completes the picture, with electric boats, catamarans and paddleboards to hire from April to October. The Aqua Mundo lines up five slides, including a Duo Racer and a FlowRider, and the park has a bookable spa area, a bowling alley, a mini-market and bikes for hire. Dogs are allowed.
The terrain is flat to a remarkable degree: the circuit of the Eemmeer is thirty-five kilometres on segregated cycle paths, which makes cycling workable with children pedalling on their own. Walibi Holland is thirty-six minutes away and also opens out of season for its Halloween Fright Nights. Amsterdam is an hour away, parking at the P+R Zeeburg. For a slower day, the Oostvaardersplassen reserve and its konik horses are fifty minutes away, the Muiderslot castle forty-six.
There remains the distance from Belgium: two hours forty-five from Brussels, more than three hours from Liège. This park is aimed first at those setting out from Amsterdam or Utrecht, or at those who want to combine the stay with a few days in the city. The lake and the marina account for most of the interest of the place, and they operate from April to October: in February, what is left is the pool and the bowling alley. The public rating, 7.3 out of 10 recorded on Zoover, is modest and comes with no verifiable number of reviews.
