Brussels to the Ardennes on a Friday evening: how long is the drive, park by park?
Leaving on Friday after work buys you an evening at the park, as long as the motorway doesn't eat it. Here are the driving times calculated over the road network from Brussels to thirteen holiday parks in the Belgian Ardennes, and what they turn into if you set off between 4pm and 7pm.

Where these driving times come from
The durations on hoprat are not straight-line distances divided by an average speed. A routing engine (OSRM) calculates them over the actual road network, from central Brussels to each park's address. The latest run dates from 22 September 2026. They are free-flow times: no queues, no roadworks, no stop at the Wanlin services.
For Fridays, hoprat adds a flat 30% to the journey, whatever the park and whatever the starting city. It targets the 4pm–7pm slot, when the E411 and the Brussels ring empty the capital all at once. It is a deliberate approximation: it knows nothing about today's roadworks or a crash near Wavre. What it gives you is an honest order of magnitude for deciding between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Chalet Le Haut Lieu is a single self-catering chalet above Malmedy, in the High Fens, not a holiday park: it is listed because it sits on the same road.
Two things stand out. First, the gap between the nearest and the furthest park is only 25 minutes in normal traffic: seen from Brussels, the Ardennes are one compact block. Second, the Friday penalty grows with distance. To Durbuy it costs 29 minutes; to Vielsalm, 37. Picking a nearer park does not just shorten the drive, it also shrinks what Friday takes from you.
On a Friday, no park stays under two hours
In normal traffic, twelve of the thirteen parks in the table are within two hours of Brussels. On a Friday between 4pm and 7pm, none of them is: even Durbuy Greenfields, the nearest at 1h 37m, stretches to 2h 06m. Leave at 5pm and you arrive at 7pm at the earliest, closer to 7.30pm for the parks in the east of Luxembourg province.
For a couple, the difference mostly moves dinner. With small children it changes the evening: a two-and-a-half-hour drive that starts after nursery pick-up often ends with sleeping children in the back and a reception desk that has already closed. Check arrival times with the park before you leave; we do not record them.

Three parks, three ways to set off
Sandaya Parc La Clusure, in Tellin, is one of the nearest (1h 38m, 2h 07m on a Friday). It is a campsite-style park on the banks of the Lomme, open from April to early November and closed in winter. Its public rating is 3.8 out of 5 on Tripadvisor, recorded on 20 September 2026.
Vayamundo Houffalize is exactly two hours away in normal traffic, 2h 36m on a Friday. It scores 8.0 out of 10 on Booking.com, recorded on 9 September 2026. This is the kind of park where a Saturday-morning start makes sense: you arrive for lunch, without the extra half-hour of queues.
Center Parcs Les Ardennes, in Vielsalm, brings up the rear: 2h 02m in normal traffic, 2h 39m on a Friday evening. It scores 7.4 out of 10 on Booking.com, recorded on 9 September 2026. If this is your park, Friday evening means the longest drive on the whole list.

Friday evening or Saturday morning: how to decide
- Read the “Friday evening” column, not the “normal” one: that is the column that sets your arrival time.
- Add a break. With children, a 15 to 20-minute stop is almost a given on a drive of more than two hours.
- Compare the total with the park's latest check-in time, which you will find on the operator's own page.
- If the total is more than your Friday patience allows, pick a park from the first group or move the departure to Saturday morning.
Leaving before 4pm or after 7pm takes you out of the slot the uplift is aimed at, and the real time moves back towards the normal one. Hoprat does not model those other hours: the only adjustment applied is the 30% for late Friday afternoon.
