From Ghent, the sea is an hour closer than the Ardennes
Ghent is the least well-served departure city in Belgium in our detailed selection: nine parks under two hours, none under an hour. But this figure hides the main point — from here, the North Sea is much more accessible than the Ardennes, yet most people from Ghent make the opposite trip.

An hour's difference between the coast and the Ardennes
In our detailed selection, the closest park to Ghent is Landal Beach Resort Kamperland in Zeeland, at 1h 23m. The first park in the Ardennes is Camping Sandaya Parc La Clusure in Tellin, at 2h 19m — and even then, it only stays open from April to early November. The best-known, Center Parcs Les Ardennes, is at 2h 43m.
The difference is therefore 56 min compared to the first Ardennes park, and 1h 20m compared to Center Parcs Les Ardennes. On a weekend round trip, that means an extra two to three hours in the car for a family leaving on Friday evening and returning on Sunday.
How the two seaside parks compare
Two parks in our selection are genuinely by the sea within reach of Ghent — the third, Center Parcs Park Nordseeküste, is in Germany at nearly six hours away and does not count here.
- Landal Beach Resort Kamperland (1h 23m) — beach 200 metres away, indoor pool with wave pool, spa, kids' club, indoor play area, on-site supermarket. Deltapark Neeltje Jans is 14 min away, Veere 22 min, Middelburg and its Lange Jan tower 25 min, Domburg beach 25 min. Public rating 7.6/10 on Zoover, recorded on 9 September 2026 — the number of reviews is not disclosed by the platform, so we do not invent it.
- Center Parcs Port Zélande (1h 44m) — beach a five-minute walk away, Aqua Mundo with wave pool, private sauna, indoor play area, bicycle rental, dogs allowed; kids' club unconfirmed. The Brouwersdam and its kitesurfing spot are 8 min away, a seal safari is also 8 min away, Rotterdam is 52 min. Rating 8.2/10 on Zoover as of 9 September 2026.
Twenty-one minutes of driving separate the two, and neither has a price read on the operator's website. Port Zélande is better rated and better equipped; Kamperland is closer, and puts the beach two hundred metres from your accommodation rather than a five-minute walk away.

The only two seaside parks less than two hours from Ghent.
In between: the Kempen, without the sea or the hills
The next three parks are in the Kempen region or Dutch Brabant: EuroParcs Zilverstrand (1h 32m, with confirmed indoor pool), Sunparks Kempense Meren (1h 40m) and Landal Het Vennenbos (1h 41m, rated 8.3/10 on Zoover based on 2,289 reviews).
Of these three, Het Vennenbos is the only one to combine a confirmed indoor pool, wave pool, indoor play area and bowling alley, for one minute more on the road than the Sunparks. Distance does not rank the parks; it merely orders them, which is not the same thing.
When the coast is no longer the right choice
From November to March, the beach is no longer a selling point, so the two Zeeland parks must be judged on their indoor facilities. Both have a confirmed indoor pool with a wave pool and an indoor play area, while Kamperland adds a kids' club, keeping them appealing out of season. This is far from the case for all parks on the list.
The real dealbreaker in winter lies elsewhere: Camping Sandaya Parc La Clusure is closed from early November to April. It is the only park in our selection with an explicitly limited season, and it is also the closest Ardennes park from Ghent. In December, the gap between the coast and the Ardennes is no longer measured in minutes, but in a minimum of 2h 43m.

From Ghent, Landal Beach Resort Kamperland is the obvious starting point: the closest, with the beach two hundred metres away and plenty to do on a rainy day. Port Zélande offers a better rating and better facilities for twenty minutes more. If you absolutely insist on the Ardennes, be aware that you pay for this choice with an extra hour in the car each way — which, on a Friday evening, is felt more than any facility. For a verified price, the closest parks recorded from Ghent, outside this selection, are on the Belgian coast: Floreal Blankenberge (€174 for three nights and four people, at 54 min), Sunparks Oostduinkerke aan Zee (€329, at 58 min) and Floreal Nieuwpoort (€281, at 1h 01m), as checked in September 2026.
